Can You Use Lash Serum on Eyebrows? Yes — Here's How and Which Ones

By LashTestLabUpdated Jul 17, 20265 min read

Over-plucked in the 2000s, thinned by age, or just naturally sparse: brows are the second most common reason people buy a lash serum. The follicle biology is the same, so most serums work, but there are two important differences. Brow hair grows on a longer cycle, so results take longer. And prostaglandin serums, which can darken skin, are a poor choice for an area where darkening would be very visible.

Why lash serums work on brows

Brow hairs and lashes are both terminal hairs with the same follicle structure and the same growth phases. Peptides that support keratin production and follicle nutrition work identically; so do prostaglandin analogs. The difference is timing: brow anagen is longer and telogen is longer, so a full cycle takes closer to four months than three.

Which serums to use

Use a peptide serum. The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Lash and Brow Serum is formulated and marketed for both and is the obvious budget choice. QUALASH performed well on brows in our panel and its 5 ml bottle is generous enough to cover both uses. RevitaLash sells a dedicated brow conditioner, but the Advanced lash formula works on brows too. Avoid GrandeLASH-MD and other prostaglandin products on brows unless you are prepared for possible skin darkening along the brow line.

From our ranking

We tested 10 lash serums for 12 weeks under identical conditions. QUALASH Activating Peptide Serum took first place at 9.2 / 10.

How to apply on brows

Brush the brows into place first. Apply a thin line along the skin under the brow hairs, following the natural shape, concentrating on sparse areas such as the tail. One stroke per brow. Do not extend beyond the natural brow line, or you will grow hair where you do not want it. Apply at night on clean skin.

What to expect and when

Weeks 1–4: nothing visible; hairs may feel softer. Weeks 5–8: fine, short new hairs appear in sparse areas, often lighter in colour at first. Weeks 9–16: new hairs lengthen and darken; density improvement becomes obvious. Allow 16 weeks before judging, and take photos in the same light every two weeks, because brow changes are easy to miss day to day.

Brows that will not respond

Follicles that have been destroyed, by decades of plucking, scarring or certain medical conditions, will not regrow with any topical product. If an area has had no hair at all for many years, a serum may improve the surrounding hairs but not fill the gap. Microblading or brow transplant are the options there.

Frequently asked

Can I use the same bottle on lashes and brows?

Yes, as long as the applicator is clean. Wipe it before switching areas.

Does lash serum thicken existing brow hairs?

Peptide serums improve the condition of existing hairs, which can make them look thicker, and increase the number of hairs in growth, which increases density.
